···July’s moon—the road home like

I picked up my daughter, home from France, at midnight; and so I write this at 1 in the morning—my 200th haiku. I know I’ve written this before, but only seems a couple nights ago I decided to write another year’s worth. Yet here I sit, more than half way through another year. In another three weeks the first leaves will being turning, just hints of autumn at first, soon tumbling into leaf-strewn winds.

A bridge crew has come by and will be closing down our road. The grass will have a chance to grow in the cracks and there will be no wind but the wind. Will be nice for the month-long stretch of quiet.
