  1. Any impressions? My first since August.

    Fall

    a sharper
    edge to wall and barren
    tree

    strewn
    again my leaves along a
    hope

    green
    again in memories of the
    loss

    regret
    again that green was just
    enough

  2. Thanks for your feedback. Although not a depressed person, with age I do feel that “again” again and again and again, a certain repetition of things passing me by. Moreover, maybe I could have written 10 of the greatest poems in the English language rather than just five, except that a simple consolation life was always enough for me and beguiled the ambition it inspired. But there is a paradoxical regret of something missed either way—whether in lazy days of sunshine all along or collecting a Nobel in literature.

  3. I substituted grove for tree to help with hope and get the sound and substance to work as a unit. Better?
