First day of snow. Maybe this will be a colder winter? As the leaves fell, the snow fell, and the leaves on the snow. I thought this would make a beautiful haiku. But reading back through the start of my haiku, last year’s first day of snow being November 15th, there was the self-same haiku.
····getting what it is—the snowflake touches
There is a beauty and loneliness to the first day of snow. I saw the snow fill the mountains, the valleys, then fall into the space between trees with a winter’s momentary forgetfulness .
