One of the great poets after Basho was the poetess Chiyo-ni, who began writing haiku when she was 7 years of age. Her most famous haiku, and well known in Japan, is the following:
·
A morning glory.
Twined round the bucket:
I will ask my neighbor for water.
·
I thought of her haiku in my reluctance to disturb the buttercups.
