Unreliability at WordPress.com

A reader, just this morning, informed me that all of my scansions had vanished (404’d).

The affected post was Out, Out, by Robert Frost.

I’ve replaced them but this is a serious matter and indicates that WordPress is temporarily or no longer reliable. The cause may be a bug or storage issues. There’s nothing I can do except to replace the lost, wiped or corrupted images. If you’re reading a post and a link or image is broken, please let me know.

  1. Sorry to hear about the lost post. I haven’t had that happen to me, knock on wood. I can definitely recommend doing full exports often. Given your extensive catalog of material, I’d imagine you’d want to do that regularly to catch comments etc. I also recommend using a Dropbox account for storing images, backups etc., in case of local computer problems.

    • Thanks 365, I didn’t lose the post, only the images. Fortunately, I do keep backups of all that and was able to repair the post. However, I don’t have time to go back through every single post to see if something was lost. I have to depend on readers to let me know.
